While the concept of outsourced office assistance has been around for many years, the term "Virtual Assistant" is new, having been officially established as a recognized profession in the late 1990s. According to the International Virtual Assistants Association (IVAA),
"A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an independent entrepreneur providing administrative, creative and/or technical services. Utilizing advanced technological modes of communication and data delivery, a professional VA assists clients in his/her area of expertise from his/her own office on a contractual basis."
Fourth Corner VAs is a networking group of local Virtual Assistants. While each of us owns a separate Virtual Assistant company, we support each other in growing our businesses, sharing ideas and promoting our profession. As a group, we offer a variety of similar services, including data entry, web design and marketing.
As independent contractors, we each use our own office space, equipment and resources to provide online office support to our clients.
